A Legacy of Visual and Musical Euphoria
Dead & Company first captivated audiences with their 2024 residency, which received rave reviews for its seamless blend of iconic music and stunning visual displays. Fans can expect enhanced visuals and new set pieces for 2025, ensuring that no two nights will be the same. The initial residency saw four-hour shows that combined their beloved anthems with high-resolution digital psychedelia, creating an unforgettable concert atmosphere.
Lineup Highlights
The current lineup includes original Grateful Dead members Bob Weir and Mickey Hart, alongside contemporary musicians like John Mayer, Oteil Burbridge, Jeff Chimenti, and drummer Jay Lane, who has stepped in for Bill Kreutzmann since 2023. Kreutzmann, a co-founder of the Grateful Dead, was originally expected to join the group but has skipped out this time, further adding an air of anticipation regarding future collaborations and tributes to the band’s history.
Tragically, Phil Lesh, another original member, passed away in October 2023, casting a reflective shadow over the upcoming shows as the band navigates its legacy and honors its past.
Looking Ahead
Dead & Company’s return is not merely a concert series; it is expected to commemorate the band's rich history, potentially coinciding with the 60th anniversary of the Grateful Dead. While the band has confirmed that these will be their only shows at Sphere for 2025, there is speculation about other commemorative events in the works.
This residency continues a tradition of giving fans a home to come together and share in music that has defined generations.
