Colby Covington's Latest Outburst: A Scorched-Earth Rant Targeting LeBron James and Jon Jones
Colby Covington, notorious for his brash personality and controversial statements, didn’t hold back during his recent media day appearance ahead of his fight at UFC on ESPN 63 against Joaquin Buckley. Known as the “King of Cringe” in the mixed martial arts (MMA) community, Covington opened his session by launching an all-out verbal assault on NBA star LeBron James.
The Attack on LeBron James
The inciting incident stemmed from a resurfaced video featuring James and disgraced hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, who is currently facing serious legal issues, including sex trafficking charges. In the 2022 Instagram video, James infamously remarked, “ain’t no party like a Diddy party.” Covington seized upon this with glee.

Remarks on Jon Jones
As is typical in his media appearances, Covington didn’t stop at James. He redirected part of his tirade to Jon Jones, the two-time UFC champion. When prompted about Jones’ recent fight where he defeated Stipe Miocic to retain his heavyweight title at UFC 309, Covington made derogatory comments about Jones’ personal life.
“Jon has some fruity tendencies... He knows deep down inside that I know his dark, hidden secrets,” Covington claimed, hinting at something more significant about Jones’s past. “He’s been with some of the fattest, 300-pound slobs. It’s disgusting…”
Covington continued to question Jones’ legitimacy in the sport, suggesting that he was ducking rivals such as Tom Aspinall and Francis Ngannou, whom he referred to as legitimate threats that Jones is avoiding. Focusing on the negativity surrounding Jones, Covington characterized him as a
